Community Engagement Partners

Rebecca Weinberg Jones

Rebecca Weinberg Jones is Deputy Director of Community Engagement Partners (an initiative of Education Cities). Prior to joining CEP, Becca was Associate Partner at Education Cities where she advised members of EdCities’ national network of “quarterback” organizations and foundations on investment strategy for growing and sustaining high-quality schools. Becca also led the development of peer-to-peer learning opportunities for the network, including full network meetings and content-focused working groups, and oversaw internal processes for the organization including goal-setting, progress monitoring, and portfolio management.

Before joining EdCities, Becca was Senior Program Manager at Mass Insight Education (MIE). During her time at MIE, she supported districts and states across the country, including in Louisiana, New York, and Tennessee, to create zones of autonomous schools with the conditions necessary to dramatically improve student outcomes. She also led the development of MIE’s first “College Success Community” outside of Massachusetts. The CSC expanded access to AP and Pre-AP courses for low-income students in Jefferson Parish, LA.

Becca began her career working at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY, in roles that spanned education, community development, and public-private partnerships. She directed the Community Service Work Study (CSWS) Program, Vassar After School Tutoring (VAST) Program and VAST+ Program, all of which took an assets-based approach to bridging the gap between the college and the local community. She was successful in increasing the size of the CSWS program to get more students working in public sector and nonprofit organizations off-campus and creating a transportation system to make the city more accessible to students.

Becca graduated from Vassar College with a bachelor’s degree in Urban Studies and correlate in German Studies, and earned a Master’s of Education Policy from Brown University. She currently lives in Boston with her husband and dog.
